The 1997 Stanford Tango Week:
Comments from Previous Tango Weeks
Overall
- It was a truly wonderful week, full of diversity of technique, styles, approaches to learning.
So many wonderful choices.
- I feel that what Director Powers and staff have in Stanford Tango Week is greater than even
they realize. Aside from a purely learning situation, it enables us to embrace some of the
culture and beauty of another nation, to internalize and make it a part of ourselves.
- More Tango Weeks! You get better every year. I've watched the level of tango grow steadily over
the last four years. The evening dances are even more thrilling!
- Totally wonderful week!
- As of Monday July 24 I am still in a state of euphoria! I can't describe how great the week was!
on Juan Bruno (Stanford Tango Weeks 1995, 1996)
- The man's a living inspiration, an artist, poet, philosopher, a great teacher, and at 70 years
of age, still such an exciting dancer that he can bring an audience to its feet.
- Juan Bruno was everything I could ask for in a teacher. He gave us styling, steps, feeling,
love and regard for Tango, and he gave himself. He taught clearly and constructively. I would
like very much to study with him again.
- Outstanding! This is a great man. I felt very fortunate to have been able to study and see a
tanguero with such a rich history and openness to changes in the tango. Truly communicated with
his students.
- A passionate, compassionate man. He helped me see the tango as playful. I appreciate his respect
for alternately letting the man or the woman shine.
- Muy bien! Terrific leading philosophy!
- The spirit of the dance that he demonstrated in class and the concert will be a landmark in my
efforts to comprehend the form.
- Wonderful. He is incredible, amazing, inspiring and a beautiful person. I couldn't get enough
of him.
- Class with Juan Bruno was a profoundly special experience.
on Nora Dinzelbacher
- Nora is a dream, full of style, personality and patience.
- She is a very fine teacher. Her attitude, sense of humor and what she imparts about tango is tops.
- Wonderfully generous, great teacher on style and conveying enthusiasm and love of tango.
- Warm, generous - great for ba-sics and feel of the dance. Really keeping tango alive in the U.S
on Daniel and Rebecca
- Newfound respect for both! They are excellent teachers and interpreters.
- The best teachers of tango! They allowed me to really utilize the material presented by the
other teachers by laying a firm foundation for my technique.
- They gave me the tools to understand and create a tango on the social dance floor.
- Wow! These two are so innovative, and they teach to various levels of ability and experience.
- Rebecca is an incredible dancer! More embellishments classes are in order for next year.
- Every time I see them dance they have grown in new ways.
New York /Buenos Aires Connection
- The best! They make it worth my investment to come to Tango Week. Live music - the best
live music - gets my blood rushing.
- 6 out of 5! Tango music doesn't get much better.
- Great. Wonderful. I wish there were more bands like them in the States.
- They get better each time I hear them - bring them back. It was a special treat to
see Pablo Aslan dancing tango!
- Rebecca and Pablo's Musicality class changed my life! Truly has changed my approach and
execution of the tango.
- Could break your heart and leave you smiling.
- If there's a better group I've certainly never heard them.
