MAY

A Sharing of Cultures Through Dance
From the townships of South Africa, Bathembu, Xola, Nqaba, and Zandile of Dance For All will perform a program that includes contemporary ballet works by Amy Seiwert, Richard Gibson and an original piece by Darrell Moultrie. A traditional Pantsula danced to live performance by Stanford University's own Talisman a cappella group will also feature students from the Stanford Dance Division.
There will be a reception to meet the artists immediately following the performance.
Kristine Elliott's Gugulethu Project is made possible in part with support from the Senior Associate Dean of Humanites, School of Humanities and Sciences, Flora Family Foundation, and generous individuals.

1920s Roaring Big Dance
Students will have the opportunity to dance the night away at the 15th annual Big Dance. Those who are able to make it through the night will get to write their names on an “all-nighters” list and be in a group photo taken in the morning. Students who attend a total of three big dances are rewarded with the “triple crown award." Featuring the Royal Society Jazz Orchestra and Midnight in 3 with guest performances by Swingtime, Decadance, Swing Cats, and more! And what Big Dance would be complete without the Cross-step Mixer, Contra Dancing, the Tacky Tango, the Dawn Mazurka, and a Costume Contest (no tommy guns or hard liquor, please!) Tickets are limited. Tickets sold in White Plaza starting Monday, May 12th from 11:30 AM- 1 PM.

RED ROVER is a traveling performance of five site-specific dances, commissioned especially for five magical outdoor locations on the Stanford campus, featuring new works by Bay Area choreographers Brittany Brown Ceres, Janice Garrett, Brenton Cheng, Hope Mohr, and Bliss Kohlmeyer-Dowman. The audience will travel from site to site during the hours from dusk to twilight, 7-9 PM, to a shared picnic and lively discussion under the stars, adjacent to Shumway fountain, for all the performers and audience members.
Presented by the Department of Drama and the Dance Division and co-sponsored by SICA and Stanford Lively Arts.

Maps and guides to the dance ramble provided.

JULY

US Performing Arts Camp at Stanford
Conservatory-style, week-long intensive for ages 13-18 taught by Stanford's outstanding dance faculty, who bring years of experience as teachers and performers, and provide a supportive environment for exploration and learning. Students take daily classes in hip hop, world dance, and contemporary dance, including technique, improvisation, and choreography. Students will have the opportunity to dance improvisational pieces choreographed specifically for the architecture and environment of the Stanford Campus.
