Focus is on changing frameworks, including Mediterraneanization and concepts of growth; differences between historians' and archaeologists' interests and methods; problems of scale and integration; relationships of models, fieldwork design, and archaeological data. Case studies may include the olive oil industry; the marble trade and connections of art and economics; and the Roman army and its economic workings and impact.
