Biography:
Alan is a 3rd year student on the Classical Literature PhD track at Stanford. He received a BA in 2008 from the University of Durham in the UK as well as an MA from Durham in 2009, writing a dissertation entitled 'Propaganda and the Persians: Public Epigram’s Depiction of the Persian Wars.' His primary area of study is Greek literature and he is particularly interested in the transition from oral to literate culture and the effect this has upon the mechanics of inscriptions. His wider research interests include hymns and religious texts, epigram, Old Comedy and Imperial Greek Prose.
