Bert Lain is interested in the careful study of Greek and Latin language and literature. His interests include linguistics, textual criticism, and language teaching. He is particularly interested in the language of Cicero and Catullus, in the textual study of Catullus, and more broadly in Greek and Latin poetry and prose. His wider interests include reading in the fields of literature, philosophy, religion, mathematics, science, and intellectual history, the ideals of liberal education, academic advising, movies, music, sports, and conversation on any topic under the sun.
