Kathryn Balsley now works for the Education Program for Gifted Youth (EPGY) at Stanford University after completing her doctoral program in Latin literature and Roman law. Her dissertation entitled 'Performances of Justice in Imperial Latin Literature' (advised by Alessandro Barchiesi, Susanna Braund, and Christian Kaesser) explores the trial scene topos in authors such as Ovid, Seneca, and Juvenal with a focus on representations of the emperor as judge.
