Aisthesis meets weekly throughout the year to review critical essays within the field of Classical Studies that have been submitted by undergraduates from Stanford and across the nation. In June 2012, we published the firstn issue of Aisthesis, the Stanford Undergraduate Journal of Classical Studies, in online and paper formats. We distribute the journal at Stanford and send it to other major universities to revitalize interest in and spread knowledge of classical subjects and values.
Submissions
Aisthesis seeks submissions for peer-reviewed publication. We accept critical essays in a classical context within fields including Linguistics, Philosophy, Literature, History, Drama, Art, and Archaeology.
Please send questions and submissions to: aisthesis.stanford@gmail.com.
A submission consists of an email with subject heading: "submission title, field." Within the email please include two files: one with contact information (including full name, title of submission, university, class year, daytime phone number), and one that is the essay. Please remove all identifying information from the essay, include a 200-word abstract, and format it as a windows document file (either .doc or .docx).
The maximum word count is 8000 words (excluding foot notes and bibliography). The submission must be formatted in Chicago style. Two submissions are allowed per author. Authors must be current undergraduates or graduated within one year of the time of the submission deadline, and they must not be enrolled in a graduate program at the time of publication. Papers received after the deadline may be deferred to the subsequent issue.
We also accept translations of Greek and Latin.
