Athena = Minerva: this talk will consider the range, history, rationale and implications of such identifications, a key phenomenon of ancient culture which is more commonly taken for granted than reflected on.
Robert Parker is Wykeham Professor of Ancient History in the University of Oxford, and currently Sather Professor of Classical Literature at Berkeley, The most recent of his four monographs on aspects of Greek religion is entitled simply 'On Greek Religion' (Cornell University Press, 2011).
