Mail Group Help
The following information is available to help you use the chemistry mail groups. If you need further assistance, please contact us. Frequently Asked Questions How do I find out which groups I am subscribed to? A list of your mail groups is available on the IT services Mailman webpage. This is only available if you subscribe to those lists with your full-service SUNet ID email address. Why did I receive a bounced message after sending an email to a group? You must be subscribed to the group to send email to the group. To join, go to the mail group form. If you're already subscribed, be sure to send from the same email address that you used when you subscribed. How do I change the email address where I receive mail group messages? Unsubscribe from your groups using the steps below and re-subscribe with your new address using the mail group form. _______________________________________ Mail Group Usage Policy Access to the mail groups is a privilege and the Chemistry Department reserves the right to revoke your access if you do not abide by the below policy. 1. Don't put the mail group email addresses in your email address book. Many viruses propagate themselves by sending an email to all entries in the infected computer's email address book. 2. To post a message to a mail group, you must be subscribed to the group. You can subscribe and unsubscribe to mail groups by using the mail group form. 3. If you receive a message which you feel violates the mail group usage guidelines, please forward the message to chemistry mail groups. DON'T FLAME (criticize another member of the list) on the mail group. 4. When replying to mail group postings, please DO NOT HIT REPLY ALL unless you intend to send your message to the entire mail group. 5. Do not send attachments. Copy the text of a document into the body of your email. Attachments are a good way of spreading viruses and many spam blockers will look for emails with a large distribution list and attachments. 6. Include your full name, lab group, and class year if applicable, at the beginning of your message, and make your subject line as descriptive as possible. 7. If you ask for recommendations, please encourage people to respond directly to you, and offer to summarize responses and send the summary to the list. This will help keep list traffic to a minimum. 8. Mail groups may be monitored by the main chemistry office. ____________________________________ How to Join a Group or Unsubscribe To join: 1.
