Chemistry Seminar Program

Student Hosted Colliquium

Tuesday, March 13th
Professor Larry Que
"The Nonheme Oxoiron(IV) Reaction Landscape"
Que
4:15pm - 5:15pm
Braun Lecture Hall
S.G.Mudd Chemistry Building
Stanford University

This seminar is free and open to the public. All Stanford University Chemistry students are encouraged to attend this special event.

About the Seminar:
In an effort to gain insight into the oxygen activation mechanisms of mononuclear nonheme iron oxygenases, a number of complexes with oxoiron(IV) centers supported by polydentate nitrogen ligands have recently been generated and characterized. These complexes exhibit a range of electronic properties that are modulated by the nature of the ligands and their topology. How the various ligands affect the thermal stabilities of the complexes and their reactivity towards substrates will be discussed.
