Career & Extra-Curricular Information for Biology Majors

The Biology major provides adequate preparation for medical and dental school as well as PhD programs in the sciences. Over the past 30 years, Biology majors have gone on to careers in finance, health policy, medicine, dentistry, publishing, law, and research, just to name a few.

Involvement on Campus
While there is a large pre-med population of students in the Biology major, there are also many students with very different aspirations. There are many biology-related student groups on campus ranging from pre-med interests to community service. A complete list of these types of organizations is available here.

Biology Department Events
If you are interested in learning more about the Biology department and its faculty, try to attend any of the events sponsored by BioBridge, the peer advising group. They run events during Autumn, Winter and Spring quarters and keep an updated list of these events on their website.

Career Advising
Students seeking guidance for career options, either through summer internships or permament positions after graduating should utilize the services of the Career Development Center. Their website offers a job/internship database, lists of careers by majors, and much more. Visit them in person for one-on-one appointments, resume critiquing and more!
