Welcome to the research and Honors page for the Department of Biology at Stanford University. On this page you will find all the resources you need to get started in research as a Bio major:

The VPUE-Sponsored Summer Research in Biology programs offer summer research opportunities to Stanford freshmen and sophomores who are interested in getting involved in research. These programs include our Field Studies Program and our on-campus Summer Research in Biology program.  We also have a limited number of Student-Initiated Project grants available, as well.

Click on the Introduction page to find descriptions of the honors program, requirements for graduation with honors, and samples of past honors theses.

Go to the Getting Started page to find out why research might be something you should consider, information on how to find a project or lab, research courses, and help with financing your research.

The Important Info page lets you download petitions (applications to graduate with Honors), a calendar of events, announcements, and the student spotlight page.
