Bing Institute 2013 Summer Session 2: Nurturing Young Children’s Creative Thinking
The mission of the Bing Institute iis to foster a community dedicated to improving the lives of young children and their families.
This endeavor has three components: work with early childhood educators, provide programs for parent education and further professional development for teachers at Bing Nursery School. Examining the philosophy, program and practices that shape our educational model translates into opportunities for inspiration, shared experiences and stronger commitments to serving young children.
Bing Nursery School is a leader in early childhood education, enabling significant research in the field since 1966. Leland and Jane Stanford founded the University to "promote the public welfare by exercising an influence on behalf of humanity and civilization." In this founding spirit of social responsibility we are dedicated to extending our influence in early childhood education through the Bing Institute.
Programs are designed for Early Childhood Educators that work with young children or adults.
Seminars are designed to provide professional development for educators. Typically offered on evenings or weekend mornings, these seminars offer learning experiences and skills for working with young children or adults in the field. Participants collaborate on strategies for best practice, in turn strengthening our early childhood community.
The goal for the Summer Session is to explore topics in educating young children with other Early Childhood professionals. The process includes hands-on experiences, observations, presentations, discussions and resources to ensure an engaging learning opportunity. Participants are immersed in an intensive onsite experience at Bing’s laboratory school housed on the Stanford University campus.
On occasion, the Bing Institute hosts groups of educators for tours, workshops and/or study sessions specific to the needs and interests of the organization.
Parent programs are provided for the current Bing Nursery School community. This includes parents, extended family (such as grandparents) and caregivers.
Bing teachers, parents, and community professionals host informal conversations on child development and education.
The goal of parent seminars is to provide in-depth learning about child development topics. Bing teachers and community professionals present these seminars.
Parents are given a forum to explore a concept over several weeks. Led by Bing teachers, the examination of a topic may focus on a book or an article.
Stay connected with the Institute for upcoming events, news, and information.
