PeopleSoft at Stanford
General Information about PeopleSoft at Stanford
PeopleSoft (version 9.0) is the system used to complete business transactions for employees, retirees, and students at Stanford. The applications that run within the PeopleSoft system at Stanford include:
- Human Resources Management System
- Student Administration (Admissions, Graduate Financial Support (GFS), Student Financials, Student Records, and Financial Aid)
- STARS (Stanford Training and Registration System)
Administrative users, students, faculty, and academic advisors connect to the system via the Axess portal website (most recently updated in February 2012). Self-service options for students include the ability to enroll in classes, change address and phone information, view their University bill, accept/decline financial aid, and view course schedules, grades, and transcript information. Faculty and academic advisors can enter and change grades and view advisee class schedules.
Administrative Systems provides ongoing development and maintenance support for the Peoplesoft system, which continues to evolve over time as enhancements and new functionality are added.
Interfaces to and from PeopleSoft enable information to be immediately shared across systems, including the Registry, Oracle, Kronos, ID Card, Parking & Transportation, and others.
Hours of Availability
The Axess portal and the PeopleSoft system are generally available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. On rare occasions the system must be taken offline for maintenance; Administrative Systems reserves 5:00 to 8:00am (Pacific time) on Saturdays and Sundays and 4:00 - 6:00am on Thursdays as "maintenance windows" when system work may be performed with minimal disruption to end users. Notices regarding system maintenance downtime are posted on the Axess login page in advance.
Reporting
Users run reports against PeopleSoft data via the ReportMart (by Hyperion) portal (https://reportmart1.stanford.edu/ for Windows users, http://connect.stanford.edu/ for Mac users).
Access/Authority
Access to the Student Administration and HRMS modules for departmental staff is granted via Stanford's Authority Manager. All University faculty, staff, and students have access to the Enterprise Learning Management module (known as "STARS") used for tracking information about non-academic training on campus.
