A Podcast Tour of Plants, Animals, and Science Art
Darryl Wheye, Donald Kennedy, Department of Biology; Katherine Preston, Human Biology; Paul Ehrlich, Center for Conservation Biology
This Podcast Tour of Plants, Animals, and Science Art unites the sciences and the arts, and presents a new kind of campus tour permitting members of the Stanford community and beyond to better acquaint themselves with representatives of the campus flora and fauna. The podcast tour points out where interesting species can be found, how they have been represented in the visual arts, and where studies by Stanford researchers have revealed aspects of their behavior, ecology, or sustainability. The tour also highlights where authors, poets, and composers have revealed them in other ways. The tour presents the campus itself as an exhibition that perpetually integrates the arts and the other scholarly activities that focus on the biota with the environment in which they are taking place.
