Ms. Christine Carter has been the Superintendent of the Reed Union School District in Tiburon, California since July 1998. Prior to 1998, Ms. Carter served in the Roseville City School District, as a kindergarten, 4th and 5th grade teacher, vice-principal, principal, and the Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Education degree from University of Portland, and her Master of Arts degree in educational administration from St. Mary’s College of California. She has also attended a variety of post educational institutes, such as the Harvard Graduate School of Education, the IBM Senior Executive Program, and the Superintendents Fellowship Program at Stanford University. |

Dr. Milton Chen is Executive Director of The George Lucas Educational Foundation (GLEF), a nonprofit operating foundation founded by the filmmaker in 1991. GLEF utilizes media, especially its multimedia website (www.edutopia.org), a magazine, Edutopia: The New World of Learning, and documentary films, to tell inspiring stories of how interactive technologies are transforming America's schools. Dr. Chen has been the founding director of the KQED Center for Education & Lifelong Learning (PBS) in San Francisco, director of research at Sesame Workshop, and an assistant professor at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. In 2005, he received the Fred Rogers Award from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting for contributions to educational media.
Dr. Jim Gray is head of the LeapFrog Lab where he oversees user experience and product development research. He is responsible for ensuring that LeapFrog products maximize children’s engagement, fun, and learning. Dr. Gray has a doctorate from the Harvard Graduate School of Education and a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Michigan State University. He was a Postdoctoral Scholar at the Center for Innovative Learning Technologies, and Instructor of Interactive Media Design at the Rochester Institute of Technology. He has contributed to dozens of publications and published studies on such topics as "The effects of television and interactive media on children’s cultural stereotyping…"
Ms. Ami Mehta is an emerging markets experience architect at Hewlett-Packard. As a 12 year HP veteran, she has been tasked with delivering on the brand promise in high-growth emerging countries. Throughout her HP career, Ms. Mehta has worked in sales, marketing, product and corporate divisions consistently solving existing problems innovatively while ensuring the solution shows measurable and sustainable results. In 2001, Ms. Mehta received her master’s degree in Learning, Design and Technology from Stanford University as a Resident Fellow for the Hewlett-Packard Company. Her master’s project focused on a virtual reality, creative writing tool to teach 3rd graders how to invent their own unique stories with the use of technical learning guides.
Mr. Howard Rheingold is currently working on the Cooperation Project designed to help organizations and society develop more effective strategies to solve complex social dilemmas. In 1994, he served as editor of Whole Earth Review and The Millennium Whole Earth Catalog. Shortly after, he was founding executive editor of HotWired, one of the first commercial content web sites. In 1996, he founded Electric Minds to chronicle and promote the growth of community online. Mr. Rheingold has also taught at UC Berkeley and Stanford University. Former "Tomorrow" columnist for the San Francisco Examiner, (syndicated internationally by King Features), he is author of many books, including, The Virtual Community (HarperCollins 1994), Virtual Reality (Touchstone 1993) Tools for Thought (Simon & Schuster, 1985).
Ms. Sandy Speicher is a member of IDEO’s Transformation practice, which helps clients use the tools and methods of design to work in new ways, address the challenges of the future, and effect change in their organizations. She has lead and contributed to a range of programs, focusing on the design of learning experiences and tools for industries such as healthcare, telecommunications, and entertainment. Prior to joining IDEO, Ms. Speicher taught visual communications at Washington University in St. Louis and worked as a senior designer at MetaDesign. Ms. Speicher holds an MA in Education from the LDT program at Stanford and a BFA in Visual Communications from Washington University in St. Louis.
Dr. Bonnie Tenenbaum began her teaching career as a tutor in the Berkeley public schools during the mid-sixties. She has worked as a developer, instructor, and evaluator of innovative educational programs for thirty years. In addition, she has focused on enhancing professional development and school-community partnerships in school settings. Dr. Tenenbaum earned her BA and MA degrees in history from the University of California at Berkeley and a lifetime teaching credential at San Jose State University. She received her PhD in 1976 from the Stanford University School of Education.
Dr. Kristina Woolsey is currently a co-PI on a MacArthur Foundation funded project investigating “New Media Literacies”, and a consultant to the Exploratorium for the development of a web site for the Institute for Inquiry. From 1998 - 2004 she served as a technology consultant for the James Irvine Foundation on a five-city after school program. She was also a Distinguished Scientist at Apple Computer, Inc. from 1984-1988. Dr. Woolsey was the executive producer of a range of multimedia titles in learning --- Life Story, the Visual Almanac, Animal Pathfinders, Disappearing Ducks, Countdown, Planetary Taxi and others --- that were produced when she was Director of the Apple Computer Multimedia Lab. Dr. Woolsey is a co-author, with Scott Kim and Gayle Curtis, of VizAbility, an award winning CD/book product.
