Facilities
The Digital Language Lab facilities are located on the second floor of
Meyer library and consist of three instructional areas.
|
A classroom designed for hands-on instruction (Room 280C). It contains 20
multimedia-capable PCs, all of which are equipped with flat panel displays. A "smart panel"
facilitates easy projection of faculty and student computer monitors (including laptop screens)
from various locations throughout the room. The room is further equipped with a multi-standard
VCR, Laserdisc player, DVD player (all of which can be projected), as well as an audio deck.
|
|
|
A seminar room with a Mac teacher station (Room 280D). The space is primarily
designed as a presentation room; however, multiple outlets allow students
to connect laptop computers to the campus network and the Internet. A
"smart panel" facilitates easy projection of the teacher station and selected student
screens. The room is further equipped with a multi-standard VCR and Laserdisc
player (which can be projected), as well as an audio deck.
|
|
|
A drop-in area for students to work on their assignments. This area has 20 PCs. In
addition, 10 stand-alone analog recorders with record-and-compare mode are available for audio
tape practice. Drop-in facilities are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
