Instructor Support
The Language Lab supports instructors in a number of ways, from the acquisition of existing materials to the development of customized course materials.
CourseWork - For information on setting up and using CourseWork, see our Quick Guide. Instructors should request ODAs on the initial CourseWork Site request form. Contact the Language Lab staff for further modifications.
Classrooms - Stanford Language Center instructors can reserve Language Lab rooms, including the drop-in area, by contacting Amy Keohane in the Language Center office in Building 30. Please note that room requests for 280C and E require a brief proposal.

Equipment - Instructors may also reserve audio/visual equipment in the Language Lab. Includes the Video Capture Cart (Instructions). As with classrooms, in the sometimes requires a brief proposal.
TechTips - Contains the latest advice and instructions for much of the hardware and software in The Lab. This includes typing non-English characters, audio and video capture, as well as the SMARTBoards in 280E.
TeachingIdeas - A collection of ideas for teaching language. Includes basic concepts as well as activities specific to certain languages, rooms and equipment.
Lunchtime Workshops - The Language Lab will be offering a series of workshops at the lunch hour to orient instructors on various equipment and technology at the lab. Please see the schedule for current offerings.
Permissions Form - Click on this link to request permission from a publisher to digitize or change the format of instructional materials. The Language Lab will contact the publisher on your behalf to negotiate a fair permissions policy.

Lab Email List - Part of the Language Lab's mission is to promote
dialogue among Stanford's unique and gifted community of language
instructors. The Language Lab email list facilitates informal discussion on a
variety of topics including
- Teaching ideas and tips
- Questions about multilingual computing, new software, etc.

Materials Development: The Language Lab provides assistance with the development of teaching materials using a number of different media, including audio, video, and computer software.
Lab Tours: - Lab orientation tours for individual classes can also be arranged. For information about tours or anything listed above, please contact Academic Computing at 724-5600.
