The Development Research department subscribes to ethical guidelines of the professional research association APRA. Our development-related information is therefore limited to public sources such as news articles, library references and public databases, or to institutional information which is kept strictly confidential.
We do not and simply can not find the following:
- Obituaries if not in a major newspaper
- Ownership in a privately held company, unless that information can be found in a D&B report or news article, or if the individual is a candidate for a public office where such financial disclosure is necessary.
- Ownership in a publicly held company when the individual is not an officer, director or owner of 10% or more of the company's shares.
- We do not have access to personal info such as medical or tax records.
- Trust and estate information is handled by planned-giving attorneys, and is not something we have access to.
- Unlisted phone numbers or e-mail addresses, unless self-reported. In most cases, PostGrads is the best place to go to for current contact information.
For further details, please see APRA's ethical guidelines.
