In Memoriam

MS&E extends condolences to the family of Professor Robert C. Carlson, who passed away on September 6 after a struggle with cancer. Bob was a leader in the areas of production and capacity planning, new product development, and manufacturing strategy. His recent passion was sustainable product design, development, and manufacturing. He was the recipient of the prestigious School of Engineering Tau Beta Pi Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching and the Eugene L. Grant Teaching Award.
 
Bob has been a part of MS&E family since 1970. He will always be remembered as a great colleague and will be deeply missed. A memorial service is scheduled for September 28th at 4:00pm in the Memorial Church at Stanford University. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Details will be posted at a later date.
