Graduate Admissions for New (non-Stanford) Students

Applications for Graduate Study are accepted September 15, 2007 through January 8, 2008 for Autumn Quarter. We do not admit full-time students for Winter or Spring Quarters.

Information on financing graduate study at Stanford is available from the Office of Graduate Admissions web site.

Our preference is that you submit a web application. Beginning September 15th, you may access the web application and detailed instructions on the Office of Graduate Admissions web site.

All application requests, applications, and supporting material sent by registered or certified mail will be refused. The post office does not deliver registered or certified mail to our building, but holds it for pick up at the post office, which has become an undue burden on our office. Most independent courier services will deliver to our building, and will be accepted.
Application materials required:
  • ONLINE APPLICATION
    • STATEMENT OF PURPOSE: May be submitted as part of the online application, or mailed separately.
    • RECOMMENDATION LETTERS: Three letters of recommendation, which may be submitted by recommenders through the online application, or mailed separately.
    • RESUME: A resume or curriculum vitae (CV) may be added to the end of the statement of purpose and submitted as part of the online application, or mailed separately.
  • TRANSCRIPTS: Two copies of each transcript.
  • OFFICIAL GRE SCORES: We must receive the official scores from ETS, and a photocopy from you to assist us in the preliminary review. We prefer that you do NOT enter unofficial scores in the online application.
  • OFFICIAL TOEFL SCORES (International applicants): We must receive the official scores from ETS, and a photocopy from you to assist us in the preliminary review. We prefer that you do NOT enter unofficial scores in the online application.

Please submit all application materials (that were not submitted online) to:

Management Science and Engineering - Graduate Admissions
Terman Engineering Center, Room 308
380 Panama Mall
Stanford CA 94305-4026

Decisions will be made by the end of March. We need to review the whole application pool to determine which are the top applicants.

It is not necessary to have spoken or corresponded with a faculty member in our department.
