The procedures have been written with a view to affording the user as much freedom in the conduct of his or her work as is reasonable, given safety and legal restraints. A significant amount of information is included in this Manual and in the "Laser Safety Guide," published by the Laser Institute of America, which are provided to all investigators and operators to assist in addressing safety problems. The Radiation Safety Officer (RSO), in Environmental Health & Safety should be consulted for explanations or additional laser safety information.
