SCERT

Are you interested in joining the volunteer
Stanford Community Emergency Response Team (SCERT)?

This training covers basic skills that are important to know in a disaster when emergency services are not available. With training and practice and by working as a team, you will be able to do the greatest good for the
greatest number of victims after a disaster, while protecting yourself from becoming a victim. This training is based on the standard Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program developed by the Federal
Emergency Management Association
.

What you will learn! What you are expected to do.
Disaster preparedness Respond to Stanford as soon as you are able
Fire safety Receive assignments and assist with disaster response
Disaster medical operations Maintain your equipment and training
Light search and rescue Participate in drills
SCERT organization Be prepared
Disaster Psychology  
Terrorism and SCERT  

What you will receive.

20 hours of training from professional emergency personnel
Hands-on practice
SCERT equipment bag and supplies
Training that is useful both at work and at home!

Dates for the next training sessions:

  • Tuesday, September 8th
  • Wednesday, September 9th
  • Thursday, September 10th
  • Friday, September 11th
  • Monday, September 14th

12:30 to 4:30 pm each day

Location: Public Safety

 

How do I sign up for SCERT?

Registration is through Axess/STARS.

Look for "Community Emergency Response Training"

under Safety, Health & Environmental Protection,

General Safety & Emergency Response.
