E-MSDS - Emergency Actions for Hazardous Materials Incidents

 


Fires & Health-threatening hazardous materials releases (including all compressed-gas cylinder leaks or valve failures):

 

 

  • Call 9-911. (School of Medicine Buildings, dial 286.)
  • Activate fire alarm.
  • Close door to laboratory or room.
  • Evacuate the area or building.
  • Administer first aid. For chemical spill, remove clothing & deluge victim with water for at least 15 minutes or until emergency personnel arrive.
  • Notify area manager.

Releases or incidents NOT immediately health-threatening:

  • Call 5-9999 (24-hours a day)
