Rania Sanford joined the School of Education as Director of Academic Services in July 2004. Sanford comes to SUSE after nine years of experience at Stanford where she developed the university’s orientation for postdoctoral scholars, led efforts to bring undergraduates to work with senior scholars at the Stanford Humanities Center, and planned recruitment strategies for research and academic programs. In her role as Director, she oversees a wide range of activities, such as admissions, financial aid, degree progress, and career services. Sanford hopes to expand academic services for international students. She received her M.A. in intercultural communication from the American University in Cairo in 1995 and is currently pursuing an Ed.D. in organizational leadership.


Debby Bryan

Debby Bryan received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada in 2000, where she stayed to begin her career as an Undergraduate Recruitment Officer. As a Recruitment Officer, Debby traveled across Canada to meet and recruit prospective students. She later moved to Concordia's School of Engineering and Computer Science, where she was an Admissions Officer and Student Advisor.

In March 2004, Debby joined the Stanford Graduate Admissions Office. A year later, she was recruited to start in the new role of Admissions Officer at the School of Education (SUSE). As Admissions Officer for SUSE, Debby manages the school's admissions process and recruitment activities.

Joseph L. Brown received his PhD in psychology from Stanford University in 2000. His graduate work focused on the influence of stereotypes and prejudice on the intellectual identities and performance of women and minorities. He also has degrees in physics and biomedical engineering from Texas State-San Marcos and Brown University, respectively.

Ayodele Thomas has served as the Assistant Dean for Graduate and Undergraduate Studies and Diversity Programs for the School of Humanities and Sciences since January of 2005. She received her Bachelor's of Electrical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1996 and received her M.S. and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University in 2000 and 2005 respectively.
