Welcome to Stanford

Stanford offers graduate degrees in more than 60 departments and programs in seven schools: Business, Earth Sciences, Education, Engineering, Humanities and Sciences, Law and Medicine.

The first step in applying for graduate study at Stanford is to research the programs in your area of interest to find one that is right for you. Keep in mind that you may only apply to one program per academic year (except in the Biosciences, in which you may choose up to three). To explore those schools and programs in more depth, click on Programs.

The process of applying to a graduate program at Stanford is straightforward. If you are applying to any program in the:
   School of Humanities & Sciences,
   School of Engineering,
   School of Earth Sciences,
   School of Education,
or the PhD program in the School of Medicine,
you will use the Graduate Admissions page (Registrar's Office web site, will open in a separate browser window).

Applications to the following professional schools are handled separately, and you should apply through the following school sites:

Stanford's commitment to graduate student affirmative action is documented as part of our Graduate Student Handbook.
