IMPORTANT UNIVERSITY POLICIES

COMPUTER AND NETWORK USAGE POLICY

Stanford has a Computer and Network Usage Policy which translates the University's general business practices into the electronic domain and conforms to federal, state, and local law as well as existing University policy. This policy defines the appropriate usage of computers and networks with respect to intellectual property rights, privacy issues concerning information belonging to others, and the integrity of information resources. A key piece of the policy is that your campus identifiers (PIN and SUNet ID passwords) can never be shared with anyone.

We urge you to read and become familiar with the policy, which (if you live on campus) will also be covered after your arrival to campus by your Resident Computer Coordinator. The full official version is in the Administrative Guide under Memo 62; ask to see your department administrator's copy, or download your own copy from the online version of the Administrative Guide (http://adminguide.stanford.edu/62.pdf). It is also linked to the Student Judicial Affairs website.
