Case Study:
Web-Based Survey

As a requirement for an undergraduate honors class, students must conduct a survey and submit findings for publication in a peer-reviewed journal. The assigned project entails surveying Stanford graduate students about their satisfaction with on-campus and off-campus housing.

Students will use a Stanford web site to gather data. E-mail addresses will be gathered from the Stanford directory, and participants will be randomly selected from pre-determined departments.

The students are eager to get underway, as the project must be completed within one quarter.

This case study examines issues to consider as the students plan their project.
