Philosophy and Literature
William Viestenz obtained a B.A. from Carleton College and also completed graduate work at Cornell University. William has written on the structural effects of hauntology and melancholy in the work of Javier Marías and has also published work on José Luis Guerín's cinema and on novels by Josep Pla and Jesús Moncada.
At Stanford, William is co-chair with Joan Ramon Resina of the research group "The New Ruralism". William is currently working on the reception of existentialism in the work of Joan Sales and also the convergence of Martin Heidegger's analysis of Holderlin and Salvador Espriu's poetics.
