His translation work ranged from 19th-century poetry to Russian television commercials.
His master's thesis was an examination of the critical responses to the Petersburg material in Pushkin's Yevgeny Onegin. His undergraduate thesis, a collection of short stories written in the style of great Russian writers completed for his honors degree at Wesleyan University in 2001, will be published in early 2008 by the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia. His academic interests include city mythology and image studies.
