The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) supports departments that wish to establish a new teaching assistant training program or to enhance an existing program. Awards of up to $5,000 are available as one-time seed grants for the next academic year, and awards of up to $2,500 are available on a rolling basis for the current academic year. For more information, please contact Tim Randazzo. Tips for successful proposals: — Proposals must have the endorsement of the department/program chair and of the faculty member with oversight for TA training. — Proposals should involve, if possible, graduate student collaboration in the program design and implementation. — Since CTL TA Training Grants are one-time seed grants, it is expected that ongoing support, if needed, will be provided by sources other than CTL. Budgets will begin on September 1 of the new fiscal year unless there is an explicit request to expend funds in the summer prior. — Responses to all three questions below should total no more than 1,000 words. Sample Grants Please note that winning submissions may be used as examples for future prospective applicants on the VPUE website (with budget figures redacted) unless you explicitly request otherwise. CTL Assistance The Center for Teaching and Learning is available to assist with program ideas and/or proposal development. Feel free to contact CTL for help.
