Just to reiterate the policy on later papers. We will subtract half a letter grade per late day. Only under extraordinary circumstances will an exception be made. If you ever turn in an assignment late please email it to Samir (shahss@stanford.edu) as soon as you are done and then hand in two printed copies at the start of the next lecture. |

Prof. Margaret Brandeau will be presenting some of her work on bioterrorism in Tuesday's class. A copy of her paper is on handouts section of the course web site, and she asks that students read it before her talk. |
| Jan. 17 | Policy paper writing tips have been posted in the handouts section. Also posted are the slides on decision analysis and cost-benefit analysis from Prof Shachter's lectures. |

| Jan. 27 | At this point if you have not been asked to present your work on assignment #1 during the 2/1 lecture via e-mail then you have not been selected for the extra credit opportunity. For those who were asked to present, please respond to Samir or Prof Shachter with the information requested in the e-mail that you received. |
| Jan. 27 | Prof North's slides from his lecture on Jan 25th have been posted in the handouts section. The slides include both the hurricane and microbes on Mars examples that he went over in class. |

| Feb. 03 | Assignment #2 was handed out in class today. Please e-mail Samir if you need a copy. It will be due in class next Thursday, Feb 10th. |
| Feb. 10 | The Assignment #2 due date has been postponed. If you would like to be considered for an extra credit presentation opportunity you will need to turn in your paper by 4:45pm on Feb. 11 to Deborah Gordon's office in Encina Hall C229. Otherwise you can turn it in on Monday, Feb 14th by 4:45pm. |
| Feb. 20 | Assignment #3 was handed out in class today and handouts were given in class which are not available on the course website. You will need a copy for the 3rd assignment so please e-mail Samir if you do not have it. The 3rd assignment is due on March 8th and it is advised that you work on the project in teams of 2 or 3. If you are having trouble finding a team then e-mail Samir to assist you in finding partners. |
