1) No extension on homework due time; but we count the best 5 of the six sets of homework.
2) The course project is handed out in the "Handouts" page.

* Please don't start to figure out where those team/state prices are coming from in the Auction LP example.
(If know, you probably don't need to take this course.) You would completely understand where they
come from in a few weeks.
* The final exam is 12:15-3:15pm, Dec 9th (Wed). If you need an alternative time/date, please let our CA know.
Then, we will select a common alternative time/date for you. You do need to submit an explanation why you cannot
take it in the regular time/date.
* Whether or not to do the project has nothing to do with the 3 or 4 unit issue.
You are required to do the project if you take this course as a project course (either 3 or 4 units).
The project would count 20% in addition to all other course work:
- Homework Exercises: (will be graded) 35%
- Midterm Examination: Tuesday, October 27 (in class, open book) 25%
- Final Examination: 12:15-3:15pm, Dec 9th (Wed), Location TBA (open book) 40%
Thus, if you did everything perfectly, your total points is 120.
You can do the project as a bonus if you take it as a non-project course (either 3 or 4 units).
This would add up-to 10 points to your other total (up-to 100 points).
"Project" and "non-project" students would be graded separately.

A good suggestion from you, HW3 is now due 5pm, 10/26. Thus, we can distribute the HW3 solution set
for you to prepare the midterm exam in class 10/27.
Leila's office hour is changed to Mondays: 12:30-2:00pm.
Yihan and Qi Qi have office hours on Sundays, and all SCPD students are welcome to come.

This course emphasizes formulations, theories, algorithms, and recent applications of
Linear and Nonlinear Optimization---one of the central mathematical decision models in Management Science
and Operations Research. Check ``Course Info'' page for more information.
Students can take the course for 3 or 4 units. An additional team-based optimization project is required
for those students taking the course toward an MS&E project course; others can also do the project for bonus.
