Final Report
Like the design notebooks, the reports are cumulative. In other words, the final report that you submit will include material (possibly revised) that you turned in during the first review. Also like the notebooks, the reports are a documentation of your design and of the process you use to generate the design.
Final Report (3 copies) - due Monday, June 8 at 10am
Your final report should be succinct and stand on it’s own. Someone unfamiliar with your project should be able to read your final report and get a complete sense of what your design challenge is, and the solution you are proposing and how you arrived at it. The final report should contain revised material from the Project Plan and Functional Specification and first report plus:
1. Detail part drawings
2. Layout drawing — annotated so that a first-time reader can understand it
3. Description and results of tests conducted for your design (if applicable)
4. Explanation and justification of materials
5. Design for manufacturability considerations
6. Fabrication and assembly instructions or drawings
7. Maintenance, repair, and other considerations as relevant
Any necessary and explanantory information not part of the main report can be included as an appendix. Please keep this to an absolute minimum.
