Final Presentation

The Final Presentation - EXPE on Thursday, June 4, 2:00-5:00pm

Congratulations! You’ve been operating your “start-up design company” (your team) for two months now and you’re ready to display your work and seek funding to put your product into production.

We will gather together in a large space so that each team will have an opportunity to exhibit project results using posters or other visual media and hardware. Each team will have its own location and ME faculty and students, project partners and other guests from industry will move around the exhibits asking team members about their project. Some considerations to keep in mind for both the final presentation and final report are:

Is the concept sound? Will the design really work and will people want to use it?
Is the design producible? Approximately how much will the parts cost? How much labor is involved in assembling them? Are the parts readily available or do some have to be manufactured specially? Are there any parts difficult to make and do you have a solution for making them?

Is the design properly engineered? Have you done relevant analyses are/or tests to be sure that it meets the design criteria and performs to the functional specifications?

You will be presenting to your project partners and a variety of people from the technical community. Approach this presentation as though you are going to upper management, or outside investors, such as venture capitalists, to seek funding to further pursue your work. Some considerations to keep in mind for both the final presentation and final report are:

      1. Is the concept sound? Will the design really work and will people want to use it?
Is the design producible? Approximately how much will the parts cost? How much labor is involved in assembling them? Are the parts readily available or do some have to be manufactured specially? Are there any parts difficult to make and do you have a solution for making them?

      2. Have you analyzed the market for your product? Is your concept a sound response to a market need?

      3. Is the design properly engineered? Have you done relevant analyses are/or tests to be sure that it meets the design criteria and performs to the functional specifications?
