Linguistics 203: Assignments
Week 8: November 13, 2002
Due: November 20, 2002
design a phonetic experiment
- Come up with research question that can be addressed through
phonetic measurements
- formulate a precise, testable hypothesis based on that question
- Begin thinking about how to test the hypothesis.
Note: the research question doesn't have to come from phonetics to be
addressed using phonetic measurements. For example questions about
intonation and phrasing relevant to syntax and semantics are often
best resolved through measurement.
