Definitive Hosts: dogs, foxes, and other canids

“Accidental” (see life cycle) intermediate hosts: humans

Intermediate Hosts: Sheep and other ungulates.  More specifically…

1) Taenia multiceps: Intermediate hosts include sheep, goats, cattle, horses, and antelopes. Larva develops in various tissues, commonly in the brain.

2) Taenia serialis: Rabbits, hares, and rodents are the intermediate hosts.  Larva develops in the subcutaneous tissue and the intramuscular connective tissue.

3) Taenia brauni: Occurs in North Africa, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Gerbils are the intermediate hosts, in which the larva inhabits the subcutaneous tissue and other organs.

4) Taenia glomerata: Intermediate hosts are gerbils and larva develops in the muscles.  The definitive host in unknown.
