Intermediate Hebrew: Iintroduction

Course Requirements and Grading:

50%: Attendance (30%) Homework (20%)
50% Quizzes and Assignments

The final will take place on the last day of classes.

Attendance:

Regular class attendance and full participation in oral work, group activities, etc. are required in order to pass this course. Only three absences are allowed. It will be difficult to make up classes that you have missed since so much of the course is based on video material and group activities.

Homework:

In addition to reading and writing assignments the students are expected to spend time in the language lab (or in the computer cluster of their residence hall or working on their own computer) in order to make full use of the multimedia resources available to them in this course.

Homework schedule:

Mon: from the book

Tue: web program (topic of the week) - cultural exposure

Wed: reading/ get ready for quiz

Thu: "Hebrew book Club" writing and talking about your weekend/ topic of the week

Homework must be submitted on time.

Assignments:

Writing/speaking assignment: about your hobbies or something that is important to you personally. Draft due date: Nov 2nd. Final version: Nov 8th

Reading: three reading assignment (one old text, one modern formal text, one free choice.) Read, translate and introduce to the class for indecision. Meet with me in the next two weeks to choose texts and dates.
