E192: Engineering Public Service Project
Course Description:
Volunteer work on a public service project with a technical engineering component. Project requires a faculty sponsor and a community partner such as a nonprofit organization, school, or individual. Required report. See http://soe.stanford.edu/publicservice. May be repeated for credit. Prerequisite: consent of instructor.
Details:
This course number is meant to allow those engineering students who are participating in public service projects through extracurricular activities, student organizations, and other means to obtain course credit for their work. Enrollment requires a faculty sponsor and community partner. Student, faculty, and partner will decide on the content of the report to be submitted at the end of the quarter. The Office of Engineering and Public Service (OEPS) requests a copy of the report (or a short summary if the report contains sensitive information) for archiving. Faculty wishing to sponsor a project should contact OEPS to obtain a course instructor number.
