Avenidas Generations Lab - 2nd Annual Tech Conference

This issue invites you to attend the 2nd Annual Tech Conference.

Perspectives in Assistive Technology is a Winter Quarter Stanford course - completing its twelfth year - that explores the design, development, and use of assistive technology that benefits people with disabilities and older adults. It consists of semi-weekly classroom discussions; lectures by notable professionals, clinicians, and assistive technology users; tours of local medical, clinical, and engineering facilities; student project presentations and demonstrations; an assistive technology faire; and a film screening.

Newsletter Dissemination Schedule - While the thirteenth year of the course won't start until January, newsletters announcing local events related to assistive technology will continue and issues soliciting student project suggestions will be emailed in about two months.

Technology Conference Announcement

The Avenidas Generations Lab, in collaboration with the Aging 2.0 Palo Alto Chapter, will host its 2nd Annual Tech Conference, "Seniors Shaping Technology”.

This event will address critical issues in developing technology advances to connect, engage, and empower older adult consumers with tools and techniques they need to live a happy, connected, independent lives. It will focus on engaging family, friends, caregivers, and other service providers to stay connected, providing proactive information, and pursuing daily living activities more simply and effectively through the use of technology.

Older adults, design professionals, product developers, entrepreneurs, aging experts, family caregivers, home care service providers, researchers, investors, and anyone interested in the development and use of technologies to improve the lives of older adults are strongly encouraged to attend.

Attendees will see and hear presentations concerning the design and development of technology products for older adults, visit vendor display booths, and watch a startup contest judged by leading Silicon Valley investors and end-users for the value, usefulness, and potential of new products and services.
