The B612 Foundation is building the Sentinel Space Telescope, an infrared space telescope to be launched in July 2018 that will find and track over 500 thousand Near Earth Asteroids. I will discuss what it takes to find, track, and deflect asteroids to protect our planet.

About the speaker:
Ed Lu is a former NASA astronaut who flew 3 space missions and spent 206 days in space. Following his NASA career he led Advanced Projects at Google. He is currently the CEO of the B612 Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to protecting the Earth from asteroid impacts. He received his PhD in 1989 in astrophysics from Stanford.
