August 19th - Final exam and solutions
Final exam and the solutions have been posted on the course website. You can pick up your graded exams at Denise's office on the second floor of Packard room# 267.
August 11th - Exam Material
- Hope everything is going well with the preparations,
The final exam will cover up to Adaptive Filters I. Specifically up to Page 152 of the Adaptive Filters I reader (so the last topic will be Spectral Analysis with the Running DFT). Please don't worry about the Linear Algebra of Adaptive Filters in regards to the exam. I am providing you the derivations just to illustrate the conceptual developments and equip you to undertake any future studies in optimization and/or adaptive systems.

I will hold extra office hours next week for final exam preparation like as midterm. Any suggestion/preference about the day and time is appreciated. I will try to optimize over suggestions.
All lectures have been already posted on the course website under "Lectures". I brought the hard copies to today's class and will bring the additional copies to Thursday's class, and put the extra in the file cabinet on the second floor of Packard.

July 18th - Exam Materials
- We have posted the midterm exams from 2007 and 2008 in the course website for you to practice. The solutions will be posted on Tuesday next week.
There is a typo in Problem 4 of the midterm of 2007. It says -x[n-N] 0<=n<=2N-1. It should say -x[n-N] N<=n<=2N-1.
Other than that I don't remember any other typos.

July 16th - Exam Materials
- Just to announce that one week from today we will have our midterm exam. The scheduled time is Thursday July 23th from 1:15pm to 3:05pm and the location will be in our usual classroom (Gates B1). The exam in open book, open notes. Just in case bring your calculators. Local SCPD students should come to campus to take the exam.
The material for the exam will cover up to lecture 7 (More specifically up to slide 7-42). We won't test anything related to the Alternation Theorem, the Parks-McClellan Algorithm, elliptic filters, and Kaiser window design (so don't worry about it). Next class we will finish what remains of lecture 7 and I will use the rest of the time to provide you with a review of what we have learned so far (some of you have requested this review).
We have posted Homework 4 (it is due on Wednesday next week). This is a very light homework meant to relieve pressure from you so that you can have more time for your preparation.
Keep in mind that our intention is not to make of this exam a speed test. The intention is to give you ample time to think and write your solutions. I hope this comment will help to keep you relaxed.
Good luck with the preparations and Godspeed...
Juan Carlos Aragon
