Homework Assignments
Homework General Policy
All homeworks are due at
5 PM
of the due date specified and should be submitted at the drop-off box
outside Gates 305. We do not accept e-mail submissions, unless there
are extenuating circumstances (illness, family emergency, etc.). There
will be five problem sets during the quarter. Solving the problems is
critical to learning the material and understanding the concepts
presented in this course. Since there is often a significant benefit to
teamwork, students can work in groups of two. A single copy of the
answers should be submitted with both students' names.
Homework Regrade and Related Policies
- The TAs will
announce when a homework has been graded and can be collected by
students. It is up to you to make sure that the grade given on your
homework is consistent with the grade recorded in eeclass.
- In case of
inconsistencies or clerical mistakes e.g. mistake in totaling your
score, you should take your original hardcopy homework to one
of the TAs or Teresa Lynn as proof of clerical error on our
part, and we will update your score.
- You may also
request for a homework regrade if you believe there is a grading error
in your graded homework. Before you send us a request, be sure to look
at the solutions. Beware that some problems have alternative solutions
from the ones we presented.
- If you decide to
request a homework regrade, attach a sheet of paper specifying the
questions for which you want a regrade request and write a detailed
explanation of why you seek a regrade.
- Submit the
regrade request with the original homework to Teresa Lynn's
office in Gates 305 within 1 week of the return date of
the homework as indicated on the class website. We are not obliged to
consider claims to grading errors or missing homeworks if the claims
are made more than 1 week after the return date of the homeworks.
- We reserve the
right to regrade the entire homework, including deducting
points for something that was not originally caught.
