Course announcements for CS 295 will be posted on this web page and
announced in class.
Announcements

March 31: The final grades will be computed as follows. If you are
taking the class for 2 credits, the midterm will be 40% and the final 60%.
If you are taking the class for 3 credits, each assignment will be worth
5% (for a total of 35% over seven assignments), the midterm 25%, and the
final 40%.

April 7: Due to a mismatch between the syllabus and the assignment,
Assignment #1 will now be due Tuesday, April 14.

April 20: The CAs will run a review session on May 1 in Skilling 193,
at 11:00-11:50am the Friday before the midterm. The review session will be
videotaped. Please bring questions you want answered to the review session
(or SCPD students e-mail those questions to the CAs); we will only answer
questions you ask in the session.

April 23: A new version of Assignment #3 is released, with a few fixes from
the version handed out in class and with an updated file. Please see the
clarifications for more details.

May 11: The midterm average is 56.34 out of total score 75, and the std. dev. is 10.42.

May 18: The final for the course will be a take-home exam, to be released on Fri
June 5, and due back on Tues June 9 by 12 noon.

May 24: The CAs will run a final review session on Fri May 29 in Skilling 193 at
11-11:50am one week before the take-home final is released. Please bring
questions you want answered to the review session (or SCPD students e-mail those
questions to the CAs); we will only answer questions you ask in the session.

June 5: The take-home final exam is now released. Go to the
Assignments/Exams page to download it. It must be
returned by 12 noon PDT on Tues June 9 by one of the following 3 methods:
- Drop off at Prof. Aiken's office in Gates 411 (slip under door if no one is there.)
- E-mail to the course staff at cs295-spr0809-staff at lists.stanford.edu
- Submit on any bramble machine using the homework submit script at /afs/ir/class/cs295/bin/submit. The assignment name is final.
Mailing lists
The staff will occasionally use the class mailing lists to contact
students with announcements. Students enrolled in the class through
Axess will automatically be added to the class mailing list.
Newsgroup
There is a class newsgroup su.class.cs295
monitored by the staff. This newsgroup should be the first place to ask
homework questions and general course questions that can be answered by the
staff or others in the class.
