Welcome to the CS106A web site for Autumn 2009-10!
Important course information will be posted on this web page and
announced in class. You are responsible for all material that appears
here and should check this page for updates frequently.

Week of November 9th
- Mehran will be out of town on Thursday (Nov 12th), so he will
not be holding office hours that day.
Week of November 2nd
- Graded midterms were passed back after class on Monday, November
2nd. If you did not get your midterm in class, you can get it from
your section leader in section this week.
- Midterms for SCPD students have been sent back via the SCPD
courier and should get to you soon.
- Statistics for the midterm (out of 120 points) are:
- Max: 119 (3 people scored this)
- Mean: 80.14
- Median: 80.5
- Standard Deviation: 21.5

- All midterm regrade requests should be submitted to the head
TA, Sarah Spikes, by Wednesday, November 11th. In your regrade
request you should note the specific issue you are requesting
the regrade for. Note that we reserve the right to regrade
the entire exam in order to make sure that there are no
other grading issues.
Week of October 26th
- There is no class lecture on Friday (Oct. 30th), so you have a
day off to get some rest after the midterm.
Week of October 19th
- The CS106A Midterm is scheduled for Tuesday, October 27th
from 7pm-9pm. The exam is open book/notes, but closed computer. The
location you should take the midterm depends on
the first letter of your last name:
- Last name starting with A-J, take midterm in: Cubberley Aud.
- Last name starting with K-Z, take midterm in: Hewlett 200
- A Midterm review session is scheduled on Sunday
(Oct. 25th) from 2-4pm in Hewlett 200. Unfortunately, the review
session will not be recorded/televised, but the review materials
will be made available on the class web site shortly after the review.
- If you have an unmovable academic conflict with the CS106A
midterm, send Mehran email by 5pm on Wednesday, October 21st. In
the email, list all the times during the week of Oct. 26th to
Nov. 1st that you would be available to take an alternate exam.
- Assignment #4 (Hangman) went out in class on Wednesday (Oct
21st) and is due on Monday, November 2nd. The starter files for the
assignment are available on the

web page.
Week of October 12th
- The slides used in class as well as code examples are now
available on the
Slides
web page. There is also a link to that page on the navigation
bar on the left-hand side of this page.
- Assignment #3 (Breakout!) went out in class on Monday and is due
on Wednesday, October 21st. The starter files for the assignment as
well as an on-line demo of the game are available on the
Assignments
web page.
- The Javadoc for the ACM packages is available
here.
Week of September 21st
- The SCPD section is scheduled for Friday at 10am in Skilling
191. If you are an SCPD student, you are automatically enrolled in
that section (no need to sign-up). You are welcome to either watch
the section on-line on come to campus.
- Welcome to CS106A! The first class will meet Monday,
September 21st in Terman Auditorium at 3:15pm. See you there!
- The class meets MWF at 3:15pm in Terman Auditorium.
- You will also be required to attend a weekly 50-minute
discussion section. Sign-ups for section will be open from
5pm Thursday (Sept. 24th) to 5pm Sunday (Sept. 27th). Don't forget
to sign up.
