Many students lost 15 points on the ternary tree problem with a note that they did node induction instead of structural induction. If you believe that you did do structural induction, please give us your midterm along with a written explanation of why your solution was a case of structural induction. Bring these to us in person; please do not leave them in the homework bin.
Same policy for any other regrade: bring us your midterm along with a written explanation of why points were incorrectly removed.
For the bucket-sort problem, many points were attributed to realizing that the selection sort was not actually O(n^2), because that is the whole point of the strong assumption made regarding the input. More points were attributed to this than to getting the right running time for other parts of the algorithm.
There is a correction for PS4. In the Challenger problem at the end, you need to find the recurrence relation for number of walks and not paths. The corrected problem is: "Define a recurrence relation for pn where pn is the number of walks of length n between two different, predetermined vertices in K4."
The midterm has been graded. You can pick yours up from the usual spot under the handout bin. Remote students should receive their results shortly.
The mean was 76.88 with a median of 78. The standard deviation was 14.71. Here is a histogram of the scores.
