CEE 111/211: Multidisciplinary Modeling and Analysis

Grading

Overview

This course requires thorough preparation of discussion based on class interactions, homework and readings. Evaluation of students will thus emphasize active class participation. The class will have regular homework queries.

Each point in every class assignment has the same value: one point. Normally, an "A" represents a final class score that is 90% or more of the maximum total points received by any student. A "B" represents the range 90% < maximum class score <= 80%. A "C" is in the range 80% < maximum class score <= 70%.

The class has the following submissions:

  • Weekly or biweekly multiple choice assessments of your understanding the reading and presented materials. Short assessments will generally be easy if you read the material. Reading assessments will represent about 30% of the class grade.
    • Assessments must be completed during class: no exceptions. If you miss the class, you miss the assessment.
    • The lowest assessment grade will not count toward the course grade.
  • Weekly queries on the theoretical and conceptual content of the class to date (about 65% of class grade)
    • Short answer queries on the theoretical and conceptual content of the class
    • Team project (~4 queries)

Instructor discretion (no more than 5% of class grade).

There is a mini-internship opportunity over spring break with a sponsoring company (0% of class grade).

Since the class involves active sharing of ideas, timely submission of all assignments is required. Late submissions will have a point penalty.

  • Grading: we will check carefully for precise, succinct response to query questions. You can easily get a "B" simply by answering all the questions. Read the query questions carefully. Answer each subquestion.
  • Please talk with 2-3 other students in doing each query
  • Queries are individual assignments unless noted otherwise
  • Please submit all queries and labs on-line through CourseWork
