PSYCH 204B : Analysis Methods
Fall 2005


This course is designed for graduate students with an interest in the techniques for acquiring and analyzing functional MRI signals.

The course is an advanced seminar. The lectures and discussion will cover basic principles of MR, the physiological basis of the fMRI (BOLD) signal, statistical methods of data analysis, issues in experimental design, and methods of data visualization.

The laboratory component will include tutorials that introduce you to the basic principles of magnetic resonance and magnetic resonance imaging.  Also, you will have hands-on exploration of the fMRI data using a variety of software methods.  Basic programming in Matlab will be covered and general packages, including SPM, AFNI, and BrainVoyager will be reviewed.
