The handicap parking lot at the CMS is just outside my office. So I get to see Stephen Hawking arriving at work every once in a while.
On this particular afternoon, I happened to have my camera with me when I saw his car entering the carpark. I asked if I may have a picture taken with him and he twitched his eyebrows (his way of saying yes). So here it is.
The Channel Four documentary The Real Stephen Hawking has a footage of his nurse walking him to the DAMTP from his college along the river bank. I don't think he does this anymore; probably because the DAMTP is no longer at Silver Street (it has since moved into the CMS) but possibly also to avoid photo hounds like me.
He is now driven to work in the van (License Plate: T 4 SWH) shown partially in the picture.
