2. INT. THE BLUE ROOM - NIGHT

[In his trip back to America he recalls a conversation in the heat of intoxication that is a perfect reminder of what he experienced during his time in England. CU of ALEX slowly fades into the blue room. His friends are sitting in a circle smoking and sitting on couches in Oxford, England. Camera moves alot -- brevity is the goal: want to create the feeling that nothing really matters that much in this scene.][Jazz funk band, VINYL, is playing throughout this scene.]

DAN

[wide shot] Oooui!...[to get their attention] I hope we win tonite. Poland isn't that brillant.

EMMA

I hate football! [she is ingored by her boyfriend OLI]
JOSH

Compared Germany they aren't.

ALEX

[Mid range shot only of Alex] This German guy at school was such a ball hog. He would just dribble and shoot! He would never ever pass to me ...and whenever I had the ball he would always yell: "passs the bawl ...passs the bawl kinslay." [mubbling] ...always taking never giving...[He kicks a soccerball =football across the floor knocking over a beer bottle. The beer spills slowly onto the carpet= close up with cobalt blue-ish light encompassing and shinning through it.]

OLI

[Switch to close close shot of the joint and OLI's nose]Here. Do you want a toke (drag) of this? [He passes the joint to Alex. Shot of a Micholangelo Adam and God: Just their arms -- they can't quite reach and then they do.] Here's the bottle. Opps...(pause) don't worry about the carpet we already have lots of rock burns. [CU of a piece of ash falling and fizzling on the carpet.]

CLAIRE

[CU of CLAIRE after she starts to speak] I love your last name! It just so ... umm... noble. It rolls of the toungue: Alex Kingsley! [They touch hands. CU of hands. Kiss. Kiss passionately. CU of lips.]

STERGE

[Wide shot of room as far out as can be CLAIRE and ALEX still together]I went to canda for a year and they are so into hockey... to them Ice hockey is life... I believe there are 3 things to life: beer, sex, and money.

JOSH

No 'Sterg' to you there is only one thing in life: beer!

[They all laugh. CU of STERGE's cup through which you can see him blurred -- through the beer.]

STERGE

That's not my fault. [No one hears him. Wide shot. So he joins in again with a false smile.]

OLI

[He now has the joint, b/c Emma has been passed over] Ahhhh! How strong is this?? [He makes a face: Head and shoulders shot. Laughter.]

ALEX

Hockey is like pretty big in America too--

[STERGE interjects. CU of some beer foam on his mouth.]

STERGE

[Head and shoulders.]-- Yeah to them .... it's all they have -- it's so cold... (pause) In Canada there are these bars just filled with "jocks"-- that's what you call those nutters don't you [ to Alex].

ALEX

Huh ha.. yeah..

STERGE

[Shot of his hand on his glass EMMA looks at it in the shot from acorss the room.]In these "bars" there's -- no women and beer being spilled everywhere, glasses crashing to the floor. [He spills alittle beer CU.]

OLI

[Head and shoulders: him and EMMA]Mann, remeber that Uranian bloke who was at that Pub ?? Ummm Millers', who knew "2 year Carote [karate] and 4 year tie box" who could break your leg with one kick?? [Doing a kick and laughing]

[Veiw from above if possible-- the rest of the scene. The girls are laying on the floor next to their respective boyfriends. Everyone else is seated with some sort of angle on the t.v.]

DAN

[hystercal] Wasn't that the guy who was handing out cigarettes who said he didn't smoke!

ALEX

yeah... He scared me-- [pause] not cause he said he could break my leg with "one kic"...

CLAIRE

[CU form overhead shot] He was hitting on you wasn't he!?

OLI

phszsssh...[pause] He was so drunk!

CLAIRE

So were you.

STERGE

[Beer glass up to his own face] On the pull!! You were in there man!

ALEX

Wanker! [Shot of middle finger rising but then his two fingers pop up.]
